I denne engelsksprogede antologi præsenteres diskussionsemner og konklusioner fremlagt på den 8. Carlsberg Academy konference i 2011, der samlede de fremmeste forskere inden for middelalderemner. Bogen bidrager til en akademisk diskussion af ægteskabet i middelalderen - ikke blot ud fra en juridisk vinkel, men også ud fra teologiske og historiske perspektiver.
